Benny's Progress Report

 FRIDAY 20TH MARCH 2015

Hi Tony,
Hope all is well your end. Betty advised you were in the States as she has seen your pics on FaceBook.

Just checking, any further progress on the graveyard painting of the graves. Last you mentioned weather was not good at the time. I am not sure of the rainy seasons in Zanzibar but appreciate if you can keep us advised on the current situation, and if nothing carried out due to weather, do advise and when work will recommence.

Many thanks
Benny

MONDAY 15TH DECEMBER 2014

Hi Tony,
Sorry I did not get back to you earlier last week as again was tied up playing for all the Christmas gigs, fortunately many were lunchtime parties which was fun.

Hope the weather has now improved and the rain has gone whilst we are suffering rain most of the time.

Tony, as soon as the weather gets better, please carry on with the painting of the gravestones and as for the marble cleaning you mentioned using acid, if this is the method used, do go ahead as you know best and as some of the tombstones of our RC have been cleaned, guess the same method so please go ahead and also follow up with the metal fencing rubbed down, treated with anti-rust protection and later painted. As for the colour to be used, eg green, white, grey etc., I will have to seek advice from Rusi and I will get back to you.

Best regards
Benny

I have finished the whole grave yard so now waiting your reonce the next step .

1.cleaning of the marble stone  with special acid.

2.repairing the wall with cement and sand (mazson)

3.painting the graves white.

4.painting the steel fence with oil paint.

5.repairing the wall that has fallen down.

So nothing much to say but greetings to all.
Rgds Tony

Dear Tony,

Many thanks for your prompt response and of course for promptly commencing work which looks good in the photos you sent but I was not sure whether the entire graveyard was cleared and as you confirm it has been done, this is good news. Great first stage achievement. As for your 5 points detailed in your message below, I will get back to you ASAP and if I were to prioritise I would say first action would your point (1) Cleaning all the Marble Stone. Point (3) Painting the Graves White after cleaning. Number (4) Painting the steel fence which would first be to rub down all the rust, when done, painting it with rust protection followed by using the proper outdoor waterproof white paint or perhaps dark green as white would be too powering but I will seek advice from Rusi and get back to you. Repairing the wall that has broken down, point (5) will be the last item as you would have to cost out this job and as for my points mentioned about, hope will be covered with the money. I cannot put a cost on this as I did not count how many graves are of marble and how many just have to be painted white.

To help with all the on-going points, appreciate if you would count up how many graves are of marble and you mentioned using acid. I will need to seek advice with reference to using Acid as known to me, acid eats away into anything and everything so we have to be careful.

Due to the rain, yes not possible to burn all the dead grass until it is dry so no problems. Let's hope the weather gets better for you all and we are still just getting rain and more rain.

I know the broken wall is a fairly large task but can be handled and will concentrate on the other points to carry through with funds in place. If of course you can do everything with funds you have would be great though I said you have to keep some money for on-going maintenance, e.g. every few months, cutting the grass keeping the graveyard respectful.

Good news, most of the points other than point (5) does not require professional skilled workers so perhaps you have 2 men working on the jobs that does not need a builder. I have to rely on you on decision making who will carry out the work as I can see painting is a simple task, rubbing down the metal gate which is a large one is more time consuming but am sure there are too many workers who would like to do this work instead of being idle. Again my trust is all in you and how you choose to action all these points.

Thanks once again,  I will get back to you ASAP.

Regards - Benny

Hi Tony,

Many thanks for your email messages sent today and all received fine with a couple of photographs and a short video clip. I have no problems receiving your emails and yesterday John sent me your first photograph which was the only one I did not get and inf act did not even get your email. Now all looks find and I am posting progress of the work done so far. Very good start much appreciated.

Tony please number photographs each time sent to avoid duplication. Hope the dead waste grass is removed, perhaps burnt outside the graveyard where there is plenty of open space.

Please check I have all the photos you sent and I would suggest since you use your smartphone to take photos, if you stand on the Left of the graveyard and take a snap across than from the Right, may cover the entire graveyard giving a better overview of the work actioned. Thanks.

Thanks.

Regards Benny

TONY SHORT VIDEO CLIP RECEIVED OK. AT THE NEXT STAGE IT
WOULD BE NICE IF YOU COULD PAN ACROSS THE ENTIRE GRAVEYARD.
DONT FORGET TO HAVE THE PILES OF RUBBLE/GRASS REMOVED AND
PURNT OUTSIDE THE GRAVEYARD PREMISES. THANKS.
